Why We Built Timply: A Booking Platform Built Around the Problems Service Businesses Actually Have

Today Timply is officially live.

We want to take a few minutes to explain why we built it — not the feature list, but the actual reason. Because if you're a service business owner reading this, you've probably already tried two or three booking tools and walked away frustrated. We want you to understand why this one is different.

The Problem We Kept Seeing

Every appointment-based business we talked to had the same set of problems.

Clients forget their appointments and don't show up. Last-minute cancellations leave the calendar full of empty slots that can't be filled in time. Payments are awkward — you either collect cash on the day, chase an invoice, or build an uncomfortable "please pay before you leave" moment into every session. And when something goes wrong — a no-show, a client who wants a refund after a cancellation — there's no policy in place to protect the business.

Meanwhile the booking tools that exist fall into two camps. The first camp is enterprise software — built for large teams, complex pricing, weeks of setup, and a monthly bill that makes a solo practitioner's stomach drop. The second camp is the basic "pick a time slot" widget that does nothing beyond the calendar — no reminders, no deposits, no cancellation protection, no staff management.

Neither of those is what most service businesses actually need.

What Most Service Businesses Actually Need

They need something that takes 20 minutes to set up, not 20 hours. They need automated reminders that go out without them thinking about it — because the reminder they forget to send is the appointment that doesn't show up. They need to be able to collect a deposit or enforce a cancellation fee without having an awkward conversation with every client. And if they have a small team, they need to manage staff calendars without a spreadsheet.

That's Timply.

What We Built

At launch, Timply gives service business owners:

  • A public booking page — your own link at yourbusiness.timply.ai, ready to share anywhere
  • Automated confirmations and reminders — email and push notifications sent at the right times, without you lifting a finger
  • Cancellation and no-show protection — set a policy once, Timply enforces it on every booking
  • Online payments — collect deposits or full payments at booking through Stripe
  • Staff management — add team members, assign services, and manage their calendars from one place
  • Multi-service bookings — let customers book more than one service in a single appointment

This is the foundation. There is a lot more coming — SMS reminders, the iOS apps for both business owners and customers, and features we'll build based on what real businesses tell us they need.

Who This Is For

Timply is built for service businesses that run on appointments. Hair stylists, barbers, personal trainers, massage therapists, tattoo artists, therapists, coaches, tutors, aestheticians — anyone whose livelihood depends on clients actually showing up.

If you're currently managing your calendar through DMs, a notes app, or a booking tool that charges you more than it saves you — Timply was built for you.

Pricing

Timply has three plans depending on the size of your operation:

Starter — $10/month. Built for solo practitioners. One calendar, unlimited bookings, a public booking page, and email confirmations and reminders. If it's just you, this is all you need.

Pro — $30/month. The most popular plan. Everything in Starter plus up to 5 staff members (6 accounts total), priority support, and a 30-day free trial. This is the right fit for small teams — a salon with a few stylists, a gym with multiple trainers, a clinic with several practitioners.

Agency — $100/month. For larger operations. Up to 19 staff (20 accounts total), advanced analytics and reporting, and dedicated onboarding. Built for businesses that manage a full team and need visibility across everyone's calendar.

All plans include online payments, cancellation policy enforcement, and multi-service bookings. You can upgrade or downgrade at any time.

What's Next

Pro starts with a 30-day free trial — a card is required, but you won't be charged until the trial ends. If Timply doesn't make your business run better in 30 days, cancel and pay nothing.

For most service businesses, one recovered no-show covers the monthly cost. The rest is pure upside.

If you run an appointment-based business, we'd love for you to try it. And if you have feedback — things that don't work, features you need, anything — reach out directly at [email protected]. This is early and your input shapes what we build next.

Thanks for being here at the start.
